Poly-forms Adhesive Systems

MULTI-SEALS Poly-forms are flexible pre-shaped adhesives designed for bonding diverse materials, including metals, plastics, and glass. The pre-shaped copolymer prevents drips and dispensing inconsistencies typical of liquid adhesives. The flexibility and durability of Poly-form adhesive films facilitate manual and automated handling for increased production rates. Poly-Forms can be pre-shaped in multiform configurations to accommodate a broad range of sealing and bonding applications.

The temperature and time required to process Poly-forms depend upon component materials and mass, application requirements, and the location of the seal within the assembly. The chart below provides typical processing schedules. Please refer to material data sheets for complete processing instructions and alternate schedules.

ADHESIVE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION TYPICAL PROCESSING SCHEDULES RECOMMENDED
STORAGE
F05
Specs
No-flow flexible adhesive system.  Negligible vertical flow keeps the adhesive contained in precisely defined areas. Adding pressure during cure improves adhesion.

225°F (121°C) for 180 minutes at 50 psi
250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes at 50 psi
275°F (135°C) for 10 minutes at 50 psi

See F05 processing instructions for
additional recommended temperatures,
times, and clamping pressures.

Store below 80°F (27°C).
Protect from humidity,
moisture, and contamination.
F08
Specs
Flowing flexible adhesive system.  When heated, initial flow properties allow the adhesive to spread into narrow interfaces and around complex features. When the adhesive sets, any further flow is restricted.

260°F (125°C) for 90 minutes
300°F (150°C) for 45 minutes
350°F (150°C) for 20 minutes
390°F (200°C) for 25 minutes

See F08 processing instructions for additional recommended temperatures and times.

Store below 39°F (4°C).

Protect from humidity,
moisture, and contamination.

Allow parts to reach room
temperature before opening.

CURE METHOD: For most applications, we recommend the use of forced convection ovens for processing our adhesives. When using static air ovens, recommended times should be doubled. Recommended processing schedules are for adhesive only. Place thermocouples throughout the oven to determine the influence of component mass on oven temperature and recovery time. The time required for all thermocouples to reach recommended temperature should be added to MSI's listed schedules. For production purposes, adequate processing schedules should be determined and strictly adhered to. Ovens should be calibrated at least once a year.
